Deng Tietao,Zheng Hong

Strategic Study of CAE 2008, Volume 10, Issue 2,   Pages 7-13

Abstract:

The theory of five elements has had a profound influence on Chinese medicineTo rectify this, Chine se medicine correlates five organs with five elements, which not only maintainsthe essence of the theory of five elements but in practice overcomes its limitat ions thanks to theintroduction of Zangfu theory. To modernize t he Chinese medicine theories, we could categorize the mutual relations of five o rgans

An uncertain energy planning model under carbon taxes

Hongkuan ZANG, Yi XU, Wei LI, Guohe HUANG, Dan LIU

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2012, Volume 6, Issue 4,   Pages 549-558 doi: 10.1007/s11783-012-0414-y

Abstract: In this study, an interval fuzzy mixed-integer energy planning model (IFMI-EPM) is developed under considering the carbon tax policy. The developed IFMI-EPM incorporates techniques of interval-parameter programming, fuzzy planning and mixed-integer programming within a general energy planning model. The IFMI-EPM can not only be used for quantitatively analyzing a variety of policy scenarios that are associated with different levels of carbon tax policy, but also tackle uncertainties expressed as discrete intervals and fuzzy sets in energy and environment systems. Considering low, medium and high carbon tax rates, the model is applied to an ideal energy and environment system. The results indicate that reasonable solutions have been generated. They can be used for generating decision alternatives and thus help decision makers identify desired carbon tax policy.

Model validation for structural dynamics in the aero-engine design process

Chaoping ZANG, D. J. EWINS,

Frontiers in Energy 2009, Volume 3, Issue 4,   Pages 480-488 doi: 10.1007/s11708-009-0043-8

Abstract: A model validation technique in structural dynamics and its application in aero-engine development is introduced. The concept and the approaches of model validation based on reference data supplied from experimental tests or from supermodel simulation are discussed in detail. An aero-engine component is used as an example to demonstrate the validation using the experimental test and supermodel information, respectively. A satisfactory agreement with both approaches is achieved, and finally, a strategy of model validation for the whole engine model is introduced.

Experimental study on velocity characteristics of recirculation zone in humid air non-premixed flame

GU Xin, ZANG Shusheng, GE Bing

Frontiers in Energy 2008, Volume 2, Issue 2,   Pages 140-144 doi: 10.1007/s11708-008-0037-y

Abstract: To examine the effect of the flow field within the recirculation zone on flame structure, the characteristic velocity fields of methane/humid air flame in non-premixed combustion behind a disc bluff-body burner were experimentally studied by particle image velocimeter (PIV).The results show that two stagnation points exist on the centerline in the recirculation zone flame. However, the distance of the two stagnation points in humid air combustion shortens, and the minimal dimensionless velocity increases compared with the conventional non-humid air combustion. In addition, the positional curves of the minimal velocities can be partitioned into three phases representing three different flame patterns. The analysis of axial minimal velocities on the centerline and their positions under different co-flow air velocity conditions reveals that fuel-to-air velocity ratio is the crucial parameter that governs humid air combustion flame characteristics.

Five-axis rough machining for impellers

Ruolong QI, Weijun LIU, Hongyou BIAN, Lun LI

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2009, Volume 4, Issue 1,   Pages 71-76 doi: 10.1007/s11465-009-0010-4

Abstract: The most important components used in aerospace, ships, and automobiles are designed with free form surfaces. An impeller is one of the most important components that is difficult to machine because of its twisted blades. Rough machining is recognized as the most crucial procedure influencing machining efficiency and is critical for the finishing process. An integrated rough machining course with detailed algorithms is presented in this paper. An algorithm for determining the minimum distance between two surfaces is applied to estimate the tool size. The space between two blades that will be cleared from the roughcast is divided to generate CC points. The tool axis vector is confirmed based on flank milling using a simple method that could eliminate global interference between the tool and the blades. The result proves that the machining methodology presented in this paper is useful and successful.
